MSN Messenger Disconnects Constantly

I am extremely frustrated. I run a small business where MSN Messenger is our
main form of communication between employees. Unfortunately we have been
facing serious connectivity issues over the past while.

Essentially everyone who works at their computer in the office (vs at home)
ends up popping on and off Messenger.

I tried setting up the TCP and UDP ports on our symantec hardware firewall
according to this article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q278887 but that has
not helped at all. The only thing I can think of is that it is firewall
related but I can't see a problem.

Please help.

Norton will keeping blocking...even if you add to the list....do this may
help>>>
open your firewall go to the list of allow programs and delete or remove all
(Home , office, away, default..) list in those different settings...now start
you messenger and the firewall will prompt , select always allow..... now
open the programs you usally use to build back the list....

What version are you using of the messenger? I have seen a lot of friend that
work in different businesses using the newer versions like 6.0 and up.

The firewall option written by LFR its a good one... Try also checking if
the connection in the systems using the messenger is good. Slow connections
or connections that dramatically boost and slow end up in disconnections from
the messenger. Also too much noise in the connection forces the messenger and
other applications to disconnect.

Hope I can assist you more... I'll keep doing research to help you more in
detail...

Good luck!
