MSN Messenger contact bug

Anyone run into a problem where a contact shows as offline, even though you
know the person is online? Both my friend and I show as offline. We've
tried deleting and re-adding eachother as contacts, but no go. This all
started when he upgraded to the messenger beta. He rolled back to 6.2, and
I'm still on the beta. I've got no problem with any other contacts.
