I don't mean to throw cold water on the discussions but
it is this person's opinion that there is something
uniquely wrong with the audio/voice option for MSN
Messenger 6.0 (6.0.0503).
I can get everything else to work and both myself and two
other people I am connecting with are all behind Linksys
routers that proclaim to be UPnP compliant. I can get bi-
directional Text, Video & File Send consistently every
time. But noooooo Audio (I admit I have not tested
Whiteboard). ICF(software) is disabled on all systems
running WinXP. QoS is disabled on all systems. All
routers are configured identically.
So what port(s) need to be "forwarded/mapped/opened" on
the firewall to allow Audio on MSN Messenger? And by the
way, what Protocol is needed? UDP, TCP or both?
Opening ports 6901 and 5060 in all combinations of
protocol doesn't fix the problem.
Did a security patch change the audio port or disable it
altogether from what is decscribe in the current
whitepapers?
