MSN Messenger and IE6 Possible conflict

MSN Messenger (all versions) seems to be conflicting with my IE (version 6).
Here is the problem: When I go to Hotmail then try to return to my homepage
using the
Back button, I cannot. It simply flashes and stays at the last hotmail page
(no matter how many times I hit the back button or how quickly). Same with
the back button on my mouse. Has anyone else experienced this? When
messenger is turned off, the problem goes away. I have XP Pro with sp2 and
all updates.

I think you have to sign-out of hotmail first.
This is what happens with me
1. check mail from msmessenger
2. taken to hotmail to login
3.do mail stuff
4.click sign-off button
5 taken to message window telling me that I am still signed in on
msmessenger and asking if I want to sign-out from it as well or am I Done!
choose done.
