msmsgs.exe task

Hi.

I suspect that the msmsgs.exe task corrupts my video captures.

Every 120 seconds, I get peaks (# 1 second) in the CPU load (up to
60-80%). I traced the msmsgs.exe (Windows Messenger) task as the one
who's responsible for this.

Even after disabling the following options in the Windows Messenger
Preferences, I get the peaks.

- Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts
- Allow Windows Messenger to run in background

On top of this, when killing the task (tree) in the Task Manager,
msmsgs.exe keeps on coming back after 2 minutes.

+ How is that possible?
+ How can I stop msmsgs.exe from being reactivated?

Thanks,

In case one of the MVPs doesn't respond first, here's what I *think* I read
about that task. It's tied to Outlook Express, and perhaps Outlook. If you
run either one, you end up with msmsgs.exe.

Neither Outlook, nor Outlook Express is running.
