Will MSJET35.dll fix my 97 Office install problem?

Why don't you tell us what the problem is, first? Please include any error
messages you're getting.

Cannot install Offie 97 onto a desktop with Windows 98 (1st edition). During
setup, it stops and states that it cannot find the ODBC for Access. In the
control panel I find ODBC "stuff", but not the 32 bit driver (which I assume
I need). What to do? Am going to try and find the driver on the Net, but
basically I am miffed.

Gunny responded: Did this computer once have a Corel application installed,
which was
subsequently uninstalled? That would be one of the reasons why you'd see
this error.

What to do?

Install Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.5 SP-3 (which contains the
Jet DLL's) and MDAC 2.8 SP-1. Please see the following Web page for

If I remember correctly, Access 97 has earlier DLLs than the ones that Gunny
describes, but it certainly won't hurt to try. Before doing anything else
though, I'd uninstall Office 97, reboot, then run Regclean.exe (should be on
the Office 97 CD). Then reboot again and try re-installing Office. If you
are still having problems, try Gunny's solution.
