MSIEXEC.EXE for XP

I used Norton's "optomize pc" utility and could not access
Word or Excel - so I rolled it back, but when I tried to
re-install Norton 2003 it comes up with this MSIEXEC.exe
error. Microsoft says to just reformat (!) and reinstall
all programs. Please someone tell me there is a work-
around for this - the computer is only 6 mos old. Any help
greatly appreciated - thanks muchly.

I went to the first article and used the 2nd item -
Reinstall Windows Installer and was able to reinstall
Norton. Thank you very much!
