Hi,

Over the last few months, every time I startup my PC, there are two
MSIEXEC.EXE processes that are always trying to install a software
application.

Before anyone suggests that it might be a virus/worm/trojan or
ad/spyware, it isn't :)
I've run AV & spyware (Spybot S&D and Adaware) scans with the latest
definition strings...

I have also used MSCONFIG to check that nothing suspicious is loading at
startup...

Can anyone suggest how I can track down what application is being installed?

Thanks

Hi Steven,

Thank you for posting here and thanks for Anthony's input.

I understood that you have checked MSCONFIG tool, but I would like to
recommend that you try to run msconfig.exe to disable Startup Group and all
the third party services on the computer. What is the result?

In addition, you can also try to move all the files in winnt\Installer
folder to a temp folder. Does the problem stil persist?

Hi Anthony and Bob,

Thanks for the reply...

I seemed to have about 40 MSI files in the installer directory. After
removing them, the problem appears to have disappeared.

Thanks for the help!
