Windows XP does not have an option to boot into MS-DOS
because it is not based on the old MS-DOS platform.

Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter to get the
Command Prompt for the MS-DOS emulator.

The Windows XP CD itself is bootable and is a Startup Disk.
It has all the necessary tools to repair XP in the event of an
unlikely failure. However, you can make your own bootable
floppy disk if you so desire:

To start a command prompt:

Start>Run - then type in "cmd" - without the quotes.

How do I startup MS DOS with command prompt in Windows XP

There is no DOS in XP and you can neither boot to it, nor get to
it within XP. You can get to a command prompt from typing CMD at
the Start |Run line, but that's DOS emulation, not real DOS.

The only way to boot to DOS is from a DOS diskette, but if your
hard drive is NTFS, that won't give you access to it, unless you
use special third-party software.
