MSDN Newsgroup Problem

G

Greg

I'm reporting this in this newsgroupd because of some problems I've found
with the newsgroup.

I posted several issues back on Nov 25 and 26 and have resceived replies to
them all. When clicking on the link nothing appears. So, I loaded the News
Reader and sorted by entries by my name and they still don't appear.

What I have found is that it appears all newsgroup entries between Nov 15 to
Nov 26 are gone or missing. This must be a problem as I just posted my items
last week, before the Thanksgiving Holiday. I can't imagine they would be
removed this quickly.

Is there something I must do to make entries for Nov 25 and 26 to appear?

Which newsreader are you using?

I have a "Get Next 1000 Headers" in my menu. (Outlook Express).

When I am gone for a while, sometimes I have to hit "Get Next 1000" a few
times.

hi Greg,

Your using the MS web frontend? Consider using a newsgroup reader, e.g.
OE, WindowsMail, Thunderbird, 40tude Dialog, etc.

nntp:\\news.microsoft.com

Thanks for the help. My option is "Get Next 300 Headers". It did the trick
though and now I see my listings.

Thanks a ton.

nntp:\\news.microsoft.com

Does that work? Shouldn't the protocol be news, and slashes instead of
backslashes?

news://news.microsoft.com

(msnews.microsoft.com works too; it's the original name.)

You're right, regarding the slashes. nntp is correctly registered by
Thunderbird. is imho only an protocol alias.
