After installed MSDN Library Oct 2003.

I got a HTML error "Action Cancel" on the first page and
no contents can be loaded.

I try reinstall several time and still got this problem.

Anyone have this experience before.

The followings are the config of my computer which may
affect the installation.

Windows 2003 server, Office 2003, Visual Studio 6, Visual
Studio .NET. MSDN Library Oct 2001.

Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for your post. As I understand, the problem you are facing is that
you cannot start MSDN Library Oct. 2003. Please correct me if there if any
misunderstanding. I think more information is needed before moving forward:

1. Did you receive any error message when installing the MSDN Library? Did
you install all the content of MSDN Library to your harddisk?

2. What's the detailed error message when it fails to open MSDN Library?

3. Is MSDN Library Oct 2001 working properly now?

4. If possible, I suggest you to install MSDN Library Oct 2003 to another
system to verify that its installation Discs can work. In addition, MSDN
Library Oct 2003 contains the latest documention and there is no need to
have Oct 2001 verion installed. I recommend you remove Oct 2001 version
first, and then install Oct 2003 to check whether or not the problem still
exists.

I look forward to your response.

Have a nice day! :)

Hi, HuangTM

Thanks for your response and here are some information:

1. No, the installation is smooth and finished without any
error reported. I chose the Full install option to copy
all the information to my harddisk.

2. I can open it any error prompted. But no contents can
be shown.

3. Oct 2001 is working correctly on my system.

4. I try Oct 2003 before and found that it is hard to find
old information form the library.( I needs them for Visual
Studio 6 development)

Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for your reply. Based on my research, I found a case with the same
sympton which was resolved by deleting the files in the Temporary Internet
Files folder. I'd like you follow the steps below and check if the problem
still exists:

1. Close all programs and windows.
2. In Control Panel, double-click Internet Options, and then click the
General tab.
3. In the Temporary Internet Files area, click Delete Files.
4. In the History area, click Clear History, and then click OK.
5. Close Control Panel, and then restart the computer for the changes to
take effect.

If the problem persists, this may be an indication that the Temporary
Internet Files Folder may be corrupted. You will need to do the following:
1. Log into the machine as the local administrator
2. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Local Settings and rename
the Temporary Internet Files folder to TemporaryOLD.
3. Then go to FILE, NEW and create a new folder and call it Temporary
Internet Files.
4. Log on as the original user and launch MSDN

I look forward to your result.

Have a nice day!
