msdn downloaded version and install question

I have downloaded 2 versions of Vista from my MSDN
subscription. At first I got a key and downloaded 'Ultimate'
which I understand has all x86 versions. After realizing the
my new Core 2 Duo would support the x64 version I decided to
get and install that version instead. When I asked for the
x64 version on the MSDN website the key that was assigned
showed up on the Vista Business line and I never did see any
64bit specification at all.

I have now loaded the 2nd one on a new partition in a dual
boot scenario with XP MCE that came on the computer. What I
find though is that the Vista version that has been
installed is Vista Business 64 bit. My question is what is
needed to be done to be able to load or convert to Vista
Ultimate 64 bit? I have what is listed as the Ultimate key
although I was assigned that when I assumed I was going to
get the 32 bit version.

The same four keys for the four editions work on either x86 or x64. There
are not separate keys for x86 and x64. If you have installed Business you
must reinstall with the Ultimate key to get Ultimate. You cannot simply
enter the Ultimate key into Businss on the Change Product Key at the bottom
of the System Properties page.

The same key is for 32 and 64 bit.
You will need to reinstall.
Use the appropriate DVD depending if you are installing 32 or 64 bit.
This time enter the Ultimate key.
The key determines which version is installed.

Thank you both Colin and Jupiter. I had a feeling that I may
have just used the wrong key. Any tips to keep me out of
trouble on my uninstall/reinstall? Can I just boot to XP,
format the Vista partition and then boot from the Vista x64
CD again?

Addendum: I did setup the new Vista partition with Acronis
Disk Director and have that available if it will help me
straighten this out.

If Acronis permits you to hide the Vista volume from XP, do so. Otherwise
you will lose Vista system restore points and other VSS files everytime you
boot XP. Just a heads up in case you hadn't picked this up elsewhere.
