Hello Group.
Having read a note a couple of months ago on this newsgroup about msconfig I decided to have a look at my own configuration.
I bought this computer three years ago this month and mainly use it for e-mail and music.
When I first bought it I went mad and tried just about every cd writer/copier on the market.
It turned out that the one supplied with the computer (Sonic Recordnow) is the one I like best and use all the time.
I also installed at regular intervals various screensavers.
As I grew bored with the writers and the savers I uninstalled them via there own programs or through add/remove.

Now almost three years on I typed in msconfig and found references to two programs that I no longer have.
On the winini tab there is a tick in a box that says CloneCD.
There is also a tick in a box that says boot which has a sub box that says SCRNSAVE.EXE=Monica Bellucci.scr.
Its years since I used either of those programs and no longer have copies of them. They are not found when I do a search.
What happens if I untick the boxes or disable them.
Do I have to do anything or shall I just leave them.
Hope that makes sense

uncheck them you should be fine and if not you can always recheck
them. I myself always run clean starts

1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG --> Click OK
2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
3. Uncheck Process SYSTEM.INI file
4. Uncheck Process WIN.INI file
5. Uncheck Load Startup Items
6. Click on the Services tab
7. At the bottom, check Hide All Microsoft Services
8. Uncheck all boxes in the window or click the button labeled Disable
All
6. Click OK
7. Click Restart

Create a manual System Restore point, then uncheck the items. If things are
fine, then you can remove those unchecked items by deleting their references
in the registry. This is where unchecked items are in the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg

He's using Rich Text (HTML) and it adds an attachment to those who read in
plain text.

I was wondering why so many posters were including the same sized
attachment ;-)

THANKS.

In Outlook Express the attachments show up as an ATT#####.htm file. They
open in IE and in this case just shows the fancy blue font. Mostly HTML is
a waste. A 1KB plain text message shows up as at least 2KB if in HTML. The
OP's was 2.67 KB, I just saved it and opened it and looked at the file
properties. Not bad for two paragraphs. Who gives a hoot what color the
text is?

The OP's original post shows as 6KB in the size column in Outlook Express.

This link

is from Plato and I use it quite often. I sent it to the wrong guy in this
thread however. ;-)

I wouldn't think of using OE to access news groups.

I use Agent.

I use Agent.

Forte Agent 2.0/32.652 to be exact.

Since I use OE and that is all I know about, I can hardly tell about how
other newsreaders might work. ;-) I have ZERO experience with any other
newsreaders. I am still learning how OE works.
