Msconfig extended services

I somehow managed to wipe out all the extended services in msconfig. The
services are all listed locally(standard). I was trying to load NSW and
managed to mess everything up. If I try to "search" for a file, I just see
the dog, but no text. When I went to use system restore, the window popped
up, but with no text inside. I can only assume the two are connected. I am
completely lost as to what to do. Is there a way I can copy the local
services to extended or is it as simple as checking a box? Thank you for any
help you can give me.

Open msconfig | Services tab | UNCheck the box Hide All Microsoft Services |
Apply | OK | Reboot if you have to.

From now on...

Use services.msc *NOT* msconfig.exe!

Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK

Why can't I use msconfig to change my services?

[[The reason is because with msconfig and Hardware Profiles, you can disable
services that may be vital to boot your system. With the management console
(services.msc) you cannot. Also, msconfig, while unchecking the box, is
disabling the service.

The "Disable All" button also scares me. It should not even be there as no
reason exists to justify disabling "everything."]]

Thank you!!!! If it wasn't for you pointing me to 831431, I do not believe I
would have ever gotten out of this mess. I was able to correct everything
after that. Thank you again. Scott
