I added a DVD-Rom and when I tried installing it I was
told I don't have MSCDEX.EXE...It can't be found in my MS-
DOS folder. Anyone know how I can fix this?

XP does not use mscdex.exe it is a dos file and there is no dos in XP.

The only thing you have to install is the burning software, if your running the setup program from a floppy that came with the
drive, stop, you don't need it.

That is the file system extensions for using a CD or DVD from true real
mode DOS. You do *Not* need it for XP, or indeed any version of
Windows since Win95
