MS04-011 (KB835732) and McAfee Vshield : iexplore.exe performance

Seems that the slow performance on my laptop after installing
the April update MS04-011 is related to Network
Associates/McAfee VShield.
MS04-011 not installed and VShield enabled: normal performance
during Internet browsing.
MS04-011 installed and VShield enabled: high CPU usage of
IEXPLORE.EXE and Mcshield.exe during browsing.
MS04-011 installed and VShield disabled: normal performance
during Internet browsing.

I have tried to disable just single options of Vshield; cannot
point the problem to a single VShield task yet.

This laptop has Windows2000 Professional SP4 and all other MS
updates installed.
Another computer has Windows XP Home Edition and all updates and
the same McAfee version: no problems.

Anyone else having this problem?

Sure, and many others. See these threads in this newsgroup for a start:

Backwards Hebrew in Taskbar
Security patch MS04-011 (835732) causes high CPU load
Security update KB 835732
KB835732 causes stack fault when running MS-DOS program!

There are several others in Microsoft.Public.Security.

I hope Microsoft withdraws this patch in favor of one that works. Sooner,
rather than later. I get the feeling that more problems will emerge as
people continue to use their patched machines. I say this due to the
diversity of problems reported so far. God knows what will happen when you
next fire up a little used app.

My solution, so far: Reinstall the images created just before updating and
not installing KB835732 on the two Win 2000 machines it broke. Oh, and hope
my firewalls work.

Thanks for the response.
As you might have noticed I am the originator of a few earlier
messages you refer to.
This last message mainly asks for experiences of the MS04-011
patch in combination with McAfee virusscan.
As, in case of my laptop, that seems to be the crime
combination.
I guess that due to the fact this MS04-011 fixes a lot of
problems in different layers of Windows (replacing many files),
many software and software combinations might have undesired
results.
This patch shows the chaotic structure of Windows (spagetti
structure).
At this moment removing the MS04-011 (835732) patch via
Add/Remove Programs (no special tricks) fixed the problem for
me.
