MS Word takes 20 seconds to open, using WinXP

Any idea why it takes me over 20 seconds to open a Word document. I do not
have an Anti-Virus program installed. Please let me know what info I need to
post to help you answer.

If i open Word, then select a file to open, it opens within a second. But if
i open My documents then double click on the document it takes 20 seconds. IS
there a problem with Word or the shortcut or path? I tried the recommended
remedies but nothing worked.

Do you have Norton AV on this PC? Uncheck its office plug-in option.

I do not have Norton on this PC. I tried re-registering. It did not work. ANy

Possibly putting a shortcut to the Office Startup Assistant in your
Office startup folder will help Word start faster. See

Should I reinstall Word? I tried the suggestion that garfield-n-odie gave me.
it did not work. But i did notice that i have office10, does that make a
difference?
