MS WORD OPENING A PREVIOUSLY SAVED FILE

When I click on ms word to open a blank word document, it opens an previously
saved word file. How can I set the default to open a blank word file? I
have a feeling that I might have overwritten the blank file. I'm using
windows xp. Thanks
