ms word, locked for edit

Hi

When I try to create a new file, or open an old one, it comes up saying
locked for edit and wont let me do anything.

I have tried resetting pc, ending the process in process viewer and
deleting all temporary files.

Please help.

sorry for the late reply. word is definitely activated

And you know that it is activated because?
Under Help, have you used the Activate Application command and had Word tell
you that it has been activated?
