Ms word is aleays trying to do something

whilst i am using ms word the hour glass keeps appearing and word pauses
I am running norton anti virus is this causing the problem
a real pain in the but when ia am typing i can only type 3 words and then
word pauses almost like its trying to connect to the internet or activate
something else
 
Hi Peter-

This is something that rings a bell re Norton AV. You might search the NG
using Norton as a keyword. If I recall correctly there is a NAV setting to
turn off for constant monitoring which may resolve the issue.
