MS Word 2002 repeatedly get Must save using text converter - why

MS Word 2002 Why do I repeatedly get the following message upon saving :
"This file needs to be saved using the Word 6.0/95 text converter. If you
are not the author of this file or if the file is not from a trusted source,
using this converter may pose a security risk. Click Yes to save this file
only if you are sure it is from a trusted source." (sounds kinda scarey!)

a) what does it mean - why & how would an MS converter cause a security
risk !?
b) having answered it once, why does it repeatedly ask the same question -
why would there be any different answer subsequently ? Thanks! Gerry )

Microsoft has improved security which now flags up the warning with some of
the old filters. The security risk is minimal but Microsoft have plugged it.

More important, why are you saving it as Word 6? Is this an old document?
Tell Word to save it as Word Doc (File > Save As and change the option) and
it will save to the current format and you will lose the message.

Thanks for that, Graham. I had already tried changing Tools/Options/Save but
it seems that didn't actually change it to the latest format (I don't know
why it didn't ?).
Anyway, doing File / SaveAs did and the message went away.

One reason for sometimes using the old Word6 format in the past is file
size e.g. a small file which is 11KB in Word6 can be 25KB in the latest
version.

Why does it grow SO much with every new version ? Thanks for your
help, Gerry )
