MS scanner and camera Wizard problem

Can someone please explain how to fix this problem in plain non-techie
English? My Microsoft
Camera and scanner Wizard no longer comes up when I insert the FLASH-CARD
from my HP digital camera in the FLASH-DRIVE on my PC. Nothing happens now!
It worked perfectly for 2 years.

How do I get the wizard back so I can unload my camera using the flash card
in flashdrive?

I have WXP-Home/SP2. I downloaded some XP security updates but don't know
if they caused the problem with the wizard.

i don't quite see the connection, but if it stopped working after doing the
last update, uninstall the updates and see if it works again

I would have already done that but don't know which of several updates did
it. If I delete them MS will only download them again....... if I shut off
auto-update the MS popup windows drive me batty.

What else would prevent the MS wizard from coming up when the flashstick in
installed in the flash-drive?
