MS Picture It! Premium 10 Issues with Vista

Guest

HELP! I have looked everywhere for help on this. I tried loading my MS
Picture It! Premium 10 software (stand alone version) on my new Notebook that
came with Vista on it. It loaded fine but when I try to click on "Create New
Project" I keep getting an error script message and it freezes up. I really
like this program and use it a lot. I cannot find a site that has a Vista
Patch for this (the Tech at Staples suggested that). It works on my XP Home
computer but I need to be able to use this on the notebook also. Does anyone
have any info on how to make this work or where there is a patch? SO FAR I AM
NOT IMPRESSED WITH VISTA......I have had more software issues than I care to
count. Sorry, I had to vent.

Quill,

I have it working fine with Ultimate - so it is possible. Did you try to
uninstall
and re-install as Administrator? - just an idea.
If you look under HELP - ABOUT PI10 - there is a Tech Support tab,
this might get some aide for you.

Given that it was released in 2004, mainstream support has been retired and
there are no current service packs for it, it seems likely Picture It
Premium 10 is not compatible with Vista and that version probably won't be
updated for Vista.

FWIW...MS Digital Image Suite 10 runs fine
on my Vista partition. I realize this does not
answer your question but at least you know
it is possible.

There is a readme file on the install disk that
offers some install tips.

Sometimes script errors can be generated
on a system that requires maintenance like...
Disk Cleanup, Error Checking and Defrag.

Also incompatibilities with Video drivers,
Printer drivers, Virus scanners, etc... can
cause issues.

The only compatibility updates available are
*not* for version 10.

Everyone I know with this software gets a IPS:// script error
indicating it basically cannot find the file where the template is
saved when you try to create a new project.

When I tried installing it, I tried installing it in win2k mode,
installing it as administrator, using the default directory, using an
alternate directory, turning on 'Run script in my computer' in the
advanecd tab of ie, tried disabling protected mode on every zone.
Tried adding the one-project to Trusted sites and setting security to
lowest.

Same script error. Since using IE7 and not IE6 as the program
requires. I think its an IE7 script error thing. I've even tried
using 'Turn On/Off Windows Features' in Program and Features to turn
on most of the optional script stuff, .net framework stuff etc.

Something on your system is incompatible
(sorry I have no idea what)...anyway, DIS10
and several other versions run fine on my
Vista partition.

The only versions that will not run are:
PI2001, PI2002 and DIP7.0.

I inserted the CD and installed as Administrator
I used it in:
all the betas - then
Clean install of Home Premium Full Edition - then
Upgraded thru Anytime Upgrade to Ultimate Edition
I have MS Picture It Premium 10 V10.0.612.0
I have UAC off

I am not smart enough to do anything outside the norm
;-)
