If it's just an email client you're looking for, how about Thunderbird?
It's not a complete MS Outlook equivalent, but I use it to access my IMAP
email.
I second that, however it will only get mail and nothing else. We use
MDaemon mail server at work which is essentially an Exchange replacement
with calendars and contacts. But those are not available through
Thunderbird.
So my Thunderbird folders include:
- My ISP's POP3 e-mail
- E-mail at work, IMAP
- Newsgroups (which I'm using now)
