MS Office Install.

I have two laptops, HP Pavilion/XP/3 and Toshiba Satellite
a205/Vista/1. Currently I am in process of moving files and apps over
to the Vista machine. I have MS Office 2000 on my XP machine. Although
old this works well for me because my needs are minor.

Sometime in the distant past I transferred my distribution disks from
the standard jewel boxes to the slim type. In the case of MS Office I
then discarded the standard jewel box with its installation code.

Under the Help/About MS Excel/Access/Word, etc there appears my name
and a Product ID. Would these help to obtain the correct installation
code if I wrote to MS?

Many Thanks,

Peter

Instead.. Use Belarc Advisor on the working machine that currently has
Office 2000...
http://belarc.com/

( Although - I cannot guarantee it will work for Office 2000. :-(
Approaching a decade - that's like double-lifetimes in software years. heh )

Sadly, I see no legal way of obtaining a key.

How to obtain a new product key for Office program setup
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=823570
My understanding is that it is not for Office 2000 and older.
The Office group should verify that. (microsoft.public.office.misc)

Belarc Advisor or any other key-finder will not work on Office 2000 as
the key is not kept on the machine after installation.
