MS Office Exceel 2003 prof

I am not able to open excel spread sheet file directly by double
clicking on it , I have to first open the excel appication and than
go to file menu and open and then select the location where the file
is and then opens, thisproblem started couple of months back I have
tried reinstalling the MS office package and the window XP still the
problem persists
could anyone suggest

You could try checking the "Always Use this..." checkbox in Open With.

Rightclick the Excel file, choose OpenWith, select Excel, and check the
checkbox at the bottom of the dialog.
