I am awaiting the arrival by courier of my new Vista Home Premium
operating system and just wanted to tap into the experience in this
group with the question - will MS Office 2000 work of it? I really don't
want to have to upgrade Office, and I really like the 2K version. Thanks.

Thats what I am using with Vista - so far no problems. I tried Office 2007
and my elementary school teacher wife threw a fit trying to deal with the
user interface so I got out my old Office 2000 disc and installed it.
Someone on these lists reported there were some functionality problems but I
havent seen any so far.

Thanks for the answer Jim. I'll assume it will be OK in that case. Any
functionality issues probably involve some of the more exotic features
the average user never touches. Sounds hopeful anyway. Thanks again.

Peter,

Office 2000 works fine in Vista, except, Outlook won't work without a slight
transfer of some files.

Use Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\System
Copy wab32.dll and wab32res.dll to C:\Windows\System32

With the above change you shouldn't notice any problems.

Thank you for that info. I actually prefer Thunderbird and never use
Outlook, just Word and Excel, so it sounds as though I will be able to
run those two quite happily. Appreciate your input.

Your welcome. BTW, I only use Outlook for 'Things to Do' and appointments,
etc. Not email.

I am using Office 2000 (only word and excel) on Vista Ultimate without
problem.

I have posted about a separate issue regarding adding Photo Editor to the
Send To context menu.
