MS-DOS shortcut not using assigned font

We have a desktop shortcut assigned to an old MS-DOS program (Computer
Associates AccPac Plus). The shortcut, which acts as an old PIF file,
allows the user to select the font and size to be used by the application in
the DOS window while it is executing in Windows Vista. Unfortunately, the
changes to the font are NOT reflected in the DOS window while the program is
running. Any suggestions why the font may not be changing?

I'll let someone else address this problem, but as an aside have you tried
running MS-DOS in a virtual machine? That might work better for you. I like
VMware, but there is also Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007, DOSBox, and Sun's
new virtual software Virtual Box.
