When I boot my computer from the MS DOS boot disc(that
was made in windows xp which supports DOS ver 5.1) it
displays the heading "window millenium edition" the
version of does that is displayed when the ver command is
entered is DOS ver 4.9. Therefore none of the commands
will work properly.(For instance, when I attempt to
manually format and partition the C: drive with the
command: FORMAT C:, it niether recognizes the command or
communicates with the DOS file which is on the hard
drive. What is the reason for this, and is there a way
to remedy this situation. Also, is there an alternative
route to formatting hard disc C:.
