MS Automatic Updates

Hi

I want to remove the Automatic Updates (yellow shield) warning in my Task
Tray. It is reminding me to install an IE update -- but I dont want to
install it. I tried clicking Custom Install (advanced) > then deselected
Windows IE....update > click Close.

This does not get rid of the yellow warning shield and warns me everyday to
instal the update.

Is my only choice to 'Turn off Automatic Updates' within Settings, thus
manually having to check for MS Updates? ...... ?

Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I want to stop Automatic Updates trying to install IE7.

I checked your links but unfortunately I cannot find where to "STOP" the IE7
download notification shield appearing in the system tray.

Thank you

Hey Apr, an idea,
1.When the Windows Update icon appears in the notification area, or when
you are notified that updates are ready to download, click the icon.
2.Review the recommended updates. If you do not want to download an item,
clear the check box next to it.
3.Click Download. (If you cleared all the check boxes, click Close.)
4.In the confirmation dialog box, select the Don't notify me about this
update again check box, and then click OK.

Snatched that from the windows help area, i think step Four is the one for
you, hope it works!

If you delete the file mentioned the shield should go away since the updates
are no longer on your computer.
The second link prevents Automatic Update from getting IE-7 at a later time.
However if you decide you want IE-7, simply go to Windows Update and the
option will be available.

Do you know why?

Thank you. :)

....I'm finding the website very complicated. I am worried that if I delete
files, I will have problems later.
