MS AntiSpyware killed my email

I installed and ran MS AntiSpyware on XP pro SP2 machine.
It promptly found Xupiter on my dbx files and offered to
fix the problem. I accepted.

Then I open Outlook Express to find all my folders and 3
years worth of mails gone.

Return to program to "unquaratine" files. Reopen OE, mail
still gone. DBX files not visible in store folder.

One click of MS AntiSpyware has done more harm than any
spyware I can imagine.

Good thing you made a backup of that important email before you installed a
BETA application - right????

Important data is ALWAYS one click away from disaster.

It didn't kill one mail, it deleted *all* my .dbx files: in
other words, all my mail.

But yes, I did back it up first. My point: with this
application, MS makes it pretty damn easy for the average
user to irreversibly destroy critical data.

Did you accept Remove or Quarantine ? Blindly accepting a BETA
software's recommendation could lead to losing something you would not
like to lose.
For anyone else reading this thread, choose QUARANTINE first until you
can determine with certainty that what you're removing really NEEDS to
be removed.
