Hi,

My copy of MS Antispyware beta came up with an expiry date (December
2005). I followed the instructions to obtain the update but the version
downloaded was the same - generating the same message. I checked 'Google'
but found no references to an updated version. Is there one or has the
product gone non-free?

I had a lot of trouble installing the update when MS Anti-Spyware expired in
Dec 2005.
I downloaded & installed the update, only to be told it had expired.
Anyway, it worked in the end when I uninstalled the version that expired Dec
2005 & installed the new version (that expires July 2006) without rebooting
the computer inbetween.
Hope it works for you.
Regards
Nick

Hi,

I've been to this link before and downloaded the executable. The first
install window has an option to remove MS Antispyware or update. Whether I
de-install first (and then run again to install) or update, on running the
installed product I still get the 'out of date' (December 31st 2005)
message. I guess I'll have to look more closely at the version numbers.
Otherwise, has anybody got a clue as to what I am doing wrong? The only
thing I can think of is that I didn't restart the PC after the first
uninstall. I'll try that.

Thanks
Bob

Hi Nick,

This is getting ridiculous. I've done exactly what you have
(repeatedly)
together with a variety of other methods. None have worked. I repeatedly
get
the message stating that the software has expired. I'm at a loss as to
what
to try next. Perhaps using 'Firefox' as my browser creates a problem?
However, I doubt this. I normally run 'Adaware 1.06' and 'Spybot Search
and
Destroy' successfully so I can do without the MS Antispyware program if I
have to. This problem is irritating though.

Don't think so, I'm sure I used Moz when I D/L'd it, but try it in IE to be
sure.

Destroy' successfully so I can do without the MS Antispyware program if I

I also use AdAware and Spybot, but M$AS is reputed to find other gunge that
those two don't, so please persevere and try to use it

I ran into the same problem. I noticed when I ran their Verification Check
Tool the letter began with letter "C" and the thing would not allow the
subsequent downloaded program to continue beyond Dec. 31, 2005.

A few days later and I am here and again tried the link above. This time
the Verification Cehck Tool reurned a string of letters beginning with the
letter "M." Don't know why the change occured otehr than a few days had
passed since I gave up and totally removed the program.

Now with the new VCT number (or letters), I got the download to install
properly and got the 5791 update later after the install as well.

Very strange...
