MS Antispyware and our product: CURecorder

I

Ilya

We are developing an ActiveX DLL which allows one to
record a short clip from their webcam, or other capturing
device, and upload it to our servers.
Upon installation, MS Antispyware (if installed) presents
the user with a choice to allow or block the ActiveX DLL
which has just been installed (we are using an installer
software to check whether the user has all the
prerequisites like directshow runtime, on their machine,
and download the missing components).

Question: Can our software be somehow elisted in MSAS
database in order to provide a smoother operation for our
end-users, provided the software is spyware-free and does
not collect any personal information?

Any information would be much appreciated.

There is a process to request that a control or executable be flagged as
safe, or spyware free, by Microsoft Antispyware.

http://www.spynet.com/vendors.aspx

is the link. Unfortunately this link has not resolved properly for me, and
others, since some time on Friday. I've had one report from a user in
Washington state, that it is working for him--so results may vary.

This link is the standard vendor dispute link for a vendor to dispute the
listing of their product for possible removal by Microsoft Antispyware.
However, during the beta, this is also the appropriate link to get in touch
with Microsoft for the purpose of getting an application or control listed
as safe.

Bill, that link now redirects to the MS antispyware homepage.
Here is the new link for vendor requests/disputes:

When I clicked the old link for spynet, it redirected me to the MSAS
homepage. I looked on the left for any links that would possibly contain
vendor/discrepancy links and voila! - there they were!

I did finally find it, and noted that the white paper on the how they select
stuff to be listed is there, too.
