MS Access (OFFICE 97) suddenly no longer works

Hi all:

All out of a sudden ACCESS 97 does no longer work: An error-message window
opens saying
"Microsoft Access can't find the Visual Basic for Applications dynamic link
library (DLL) Vba 332".

I tried several things and found no solution.
Can someone help me?

there is no more support
for office 97 modules.

you should migrate your old
office to a more current version,
like your o.s.

or downgrade your o.s. to
be more compatiable with
your old office modules.

I use WinXP with Office97 and it works just fine. Your reply, besides
being to damn narrow, is total bull poop! I would suggest the original
poster simply reinstall Office97, or try a System Restore to a date
before the problem started. Downgrade OS, indeed. ::shaking head::

I also run Office 97 with Win XP Pro, can't comment on Vista. It
was a piece of cake to get it to install on base XP and it stayed
running OK when I upgraded to SP1. But, when I got a new PC built
and installed SP2 on it, it was a major chore to get Office 97 to
install at all. I did manage it, but I would definitely buy a newer
version if I build another PC. I don't do anything very fancy so
the old stuff works just fine but there's no point trying to spit
into a strong wind with software that old if and when I do build a
new PC with Vista on it.

if you are still using
a ten year old program
on winxp then it is your
problem.

if you know what the
problem is with his database
then tell him how to fix it.

i know what the problem is
as well as knowing what your
problem is too.

you need to go back to the
little bridge you live under and
guard, instead of trolling around
providing insults because you
cannot provide solutions....

yes, i agree with your statement.

fundementally, the o.p. has been
given a hint from the o.s. that there
is an issue at hand.

the o.p. may find a momentary
resolution.

however, if the database is not
migrated to the newer technology,
the database will crash n burn,
unfortunately.

the o.p. is not without options to prevent
the loss of many years of data, two
of which i provided.

the third is to do nothing, which
there was no need to mention.

To analogize to the real estate biz, backup, backup, backup. iffn
I had tons of ultra-valuable data files of any format for any
app, I sure as hell would back them up before trying really old
versions of something on a new O/S. As you'd imagine, I keep
multiple redundant backups of key databases and other hard to
replace files "just in case". And, if I am working on a really
important project where failure is not an option, then I would
save often to different file names to avoid total data loss in
the event of a PC crash or some sort of file corruption.

While I only have two XP computers running Office97, one Home version
and one Pro version, I have no issues with any of the programs
included in Office97. I bow to your superior knowledge on the subject,
since I can only comment on my personal experiences, which obviously
are lacking compared to your worldly knowledge. That does not change
the fact that it is working on XP SP2 installations. I doubt that I'll
have any problems resulting from running Office97 SR-2 on Windows XP
SP2, but then again... I'm not you. ::thanking God::

I did supply a solution. Now, as far as insulting you... you are your
own worst insult! However, since you brought it up: You swine. You
vulgar little maggot. What is that tripe you call your opinions? What
is that scrofulous little tumor you call a brain? Don't you know that
you are pathetic? You worthless bag of filth, you wad of pus. You're a
canker. A sore that won't go away. You're a putrescent mass, a walking
vomit. You are a spineless little worm deserving nothing but the
profoundest contempt. You are a jerk, a cad, a weasel. Your life is a
monument to stupidity. You are a stench, a revulsion, a big suck on a
sour lemon. I will never get over the embarrassment of belonging to
the same species as you. You are a monster, an ogre. I barf at the
very thought of you. You have all the appeal of a paper cut. Lepers
avoid you. You are vile, worthless, less than nothing. You are a weed,
a fungus, the dregs of this earth. And did I mention, you smell? You
are weary, stale, flat and unprofitable. You're grimy, squalid, nasty
and profane. I have excreted better things than you. You are foul and
disgusting. You're a fool, an ignoramus. Monkeys look down on you. You
are a waste of flesh. You have no rhythm. You are ridiculous and
obnoxious. You are the moral equivalent of a leech. You are a living
emptiness, a meaningless void. You are sour and senile. You are a
disease. On a good day you're a half-wit. You remind me of drool. You
are deficient in all that lends to character. You have the personality
of wallpaper. You are dank and filthy. You are asinine and benighted.
You are the source of all unpleasantness. You spread misery and sorrow
wherever you go. You are a fiend and a coward and you have bad breath.
You are degenerate, noxious and depraved. I feel debased just for
knowing you exist. I despise everything about you, and I wish you
would go away. One more thing... learn how to post to Usenet and how
to reply to Usenet!

There, I feel much better now! Have a nice day! :)

Wow, I didn't have any issues with Office97 except for the Findfast
service that is loaded by default and that I disable as my first
official act after installing Office97. I also have the Service
Release 2 for Office97.

As far as Vista is concerned, I'll wait for a service pack or two and
wait to see what others think about it after it's been around a while.
For now, my computers are doing all I need them to do with WinXP and
::looking at db:: yes, one computer still running Win98SE. As long as
these computers are still running, I see no need to replace them...
kind of like my old 79 Chevy. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! When I
do buy a new computer, I'm sure it will have Vista, but that's not in
my immediate future plans.
