MS Access Instability

Hi,
My MS Access 2002 is pretty unstable and keep on crashing
like once a month. Anyone can tell me what are the likely
cause for this?

Thanks
Regards,
Debbie

Hi,

If the number of days between each crash is exactly the same and 42 (or is it 48) days, then I
suspect you run on a Windows 98 unpatched machine: the number of ticks between the start of the
machine exceed the positive value that can be held in an long integer and the OS crash.

Hoping it may help,

Do you mean if the PC is turned on continuously for 42/48 days?

I asked that because I have one machine on Windows98 that keeps running
perfectly for about 5-6 weeks (the PC is turned off regularly though) and
then suddenly keeps freezing regularly for a week or so and then back to
working perfectly again for 5-6 weeks.

I was guessing solar flares & quarks affecting the PC as I tried replacing
so may different parts.

Hi,

Exactly. It is a bug (but there is a patch available). There was also a KB article about it...
still there Q216641 and it is 49.7 days ( a little bit more that 7 weeks). It affects W95 and W98.
The article has a reference to the patch for each of these systems.
