hi all and pieter wijnen(for replying to previous question and with my answer

i am facing the following problem since 2 months.
when ever i am trying to do any sort of editing in the MSACCESS-2000 version
like-editing a form or editing a table..i get a box showing the following
error shown below
=====================================================
MSACCESS.EXE - Application error
"The instruction at "0x1b060a76" referenced memory at "0x00000000".the
Memory could not be "read" .
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
--------------- ---------------
| OK | | CANCEL |
--------------- ---------------
=====================================================

AND THEN MSACCESS crashesi.e closes ....

i have installed the latest updates i think the service pack-3 for
office.thats all..thats it nothing else i have done nothing else to rectify
it ...and have done nothing at all.. other than the updating with the latest
updates.

Please help me out in this problem.what can i do to prevent this?..i have
asked it quite a few times and many of my frnds here and nobody have been
able to solve it.

Does this problem only affect one particular database? If so, have you
performed the usual steps for recovering a damaged database? See:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306204

Or, if the problem affects all databases, even if you create a completely
new one, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Access?

Hi Sabeel,

Please keep the discussion within the newsgroup: I will check back and see
how you are doing. One more thought: I once had problems with Access 2000
crashing on one particular computer due to video driver related problems.
It was solved with that computer by reducing the colours in the display
settings, but what it really needed was a different video card. It's a long
shot, but since the display settings are so easy to experiment with, it
might be worth a try.

Hi brian

can u pls tell what is the service pack for jet..i need to download.. and
where i can find it ..
there is one more thing i just noticed..in
start-->settings-->controlpanel--add/remove programs... there is a patch for
access installed somehow...and it says------"Microsoft Data Access Components
KB870669" WHEN I AM TRYING TO UNINSTALL this patch --a box coms up and says
"there was an error trying to uninstall this patch" and hence i am not able
to remove this patch..could this be possibly be the cause for my problem..
thanks in advance for helping me out..

SP8 is the latest for Jet, you can find it easily in the Microsoft Download
Centre. I've no idea what patch you are talking about, nor what MDAC may
have to do with all this, but you can also download the latest version of
MDAC (2.8) from the download centre.

Not quite. There is a security path MS-014 which supersedes Jet 4.0
SP8.

I have nothing else to suggest, other than back up all your data, reformat
the hard drive and reinstall Windows and everything else.
