Hi,

W2K SP4. Exchange 2K.

I am trying to track down why I get this error on 1 of my 3 servers
every hour. This is one of the 2 DCs.

I know it is usually related to either DNS or Kerberos, but can't find
anything wrong there.

My question is, what process would be taking place every hour on the
hour that either uses Kerberos or has something to do with the DNS
service?

Thanks a lot,

Peter

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your posting. Please refer to the following article:

263142 Determining the Cause of an "MRxSmb 3034" Warning
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=263142

1. Open the particular 3034 event in the System event log.

2. In the Data box, click Words.

3. The status code that resulted in the 3034 error is contained in the
last DWORD entry in the list.

4. The status code may be either a Win32 or a Windows NT status code.
You can look these up in either Winerror.h or Ntstatus.h, respectively.
Both of these files are located in the Windows SDK.
~~~~~
If you need further assistance, you can send the event logs (save them as
*.evt) to me at (e-mail address removed) for further research.
Sincerely,
William Wang
Hi William,
Sorry for the delay in responding - I had to deal with other issues.
I found some more info by running netmon - the error was simultaneous
with another DC trying to contact this one. There was an SMB error:
code(22) status_more_processing_required
Curiously, since running the trace, the error has not reappeared!
However, do you have any ideas what this means?
Thanks,
Peter
Hi Peter,
Thanks for your update. According to my research, it may be caused by
duplicate machine accounts. You may want to check this. Anyway, I'm glad to
hear the issue has gone.
When viewing a netmon trace it is normal to see
status_more_processing_required returned from a variety of operations.
Unless other data in the trace indicates a problem in association with this
then it can generally be ignored.
