I'm in the process of building a new PC and in the
motherboard BIOS, there is an option called MPS version
control. There are two options, 1.1 and 1.4, and I'm not
sure which one to use. The manual says to refer to my OS
vendor but since MIcrosoft is impossible to find answers
with, I'm asking here. My OS is XP home. Can somebody
answer this for me?

Hello

Just choose the default setting and you will be fine, also
read your mother manual.

Use MPS version 1.4 with Windows XP.

Windows XP supports the Advanced Programmable
Interrupt Controller (APIC) using MPS version 1.4.
APIC distributes a set of devices that form an interrupt
controller by connecting to a local APIC bus.
