MPEG will not Play in Movie Maker

I converted a tivofile to MPEG. It plays fine in MediaPlayer.
It imports into Moviemaker without any error messages.
When I try to play the video in MovieMaker no video appears.
No clips are generated either even though the create clip option is
on.
A retested in MediaPlay and it does play.

I then imported a sample Microsoft file and it created clips
and played fine.

Any clues on what to check?

This is the issue with using MPEG files in Movie Maker. Yes you will
occasionally find an MPEG1 file that works but usually it doesn't and you
will likely never find an MPEG2 file that works properly in Movie Maker.
The solution? Convert it to AVI instead of MPEG.
