mpeg files play to quickly

mpeg files (and other video clip type files) play at greater than normal
speed in Windows Media Player and WinAmp. Did something (like my 13 yr old)
change my codec? How can I trouble shoot/repair the problem?

You (or your 13yo) have goofed up your codecs. My QnD way of fixing it is
visiting filehippo.com and installing the kazaa lite codec pack from there.

I have had this problem with several Win 2k & XP systems at work and found
that the sound card driver was the incorrect one for our cards. Go to the
manufacturer's (computer or sound card) web site and download the latest
sound card driver for your system, uninstall the old and install the newly
downloaded one. Wonder if a MS update replaced your driver?
