mp3s as data

I burned a bunch of mp3s as data on my old win98 pc...I got xp now and I can't open the files. Any advice?

CD-R media does degrade over time, although reports of how quickly this can
happen vary widely. Some people experience data loss/inaccessibility in as
little as two years.

Will they still play on the W98 system?
