MP3 Audio Converter

Hello
Hope someone out there can help me out.
In songs that I download, they are (of course) in the MP3 format.
I would rather use them as Windows Media Audio (WMA) ... uses much less
drive space and/or CD space.
(My preference ... since I don't have a MP3 player)
I have constantly gone around and around trying to set this up.
I've tried all day to track these steps down.
I have used it before, and is a good program,..but I have reformated my hard
drive since then and it didn't get saved.
To get a better description, this is what it says:

To convert MP3 files to WMA
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Windows Media Bonus Pack for
Windows XP .. and then click Plus! MP3 Audio Converter LE ....
Plus! MP3 Audio Converter LE Opens...(even after attempts to get this, it
NEVER shows up)..then it goes into how it works, etc.

Is anyone familiar with this ( the Plus! programs) and how to get it running
correctly??

Thanks for any help ----
