As to why, I often send huge files -- high-res TIFFs -- as attachments.
It's easier if they go when I'm not trying to upload/download anything
else.
Have you ever considered putting the file on a web site instead of emailing
it? Has various advantages - no clogging up your/recipients' email
client/downloads/hard disks, stops the file getting even bigger due to MIME
translation etc.
I'm currently developing a program that does this for a few clients that
send MP3 dictations to their audio typist. It PGPs the file(s) their end
then uploads it to their web site, and downloads/decrypts it at t'other
end. I'd be interested in another party to help test it further and add
features.
Pop me an email off-list if you have the time and inclination
Cheers
