Mozilla 1.4.1 Released

A minor update to Mozilla 1.4 has been released. Mozilla 1.4.1 contains around 100 additional bug fixes but no new features.

while we wait desperately for v. 1.5 (when, when, when, *sigh*...)

Indeed waiting eagerly for 1.5

BTW I tried Firebird 0.61 over the weekend, I don't see what the fuss is.

The layout is clean, but for sure they have gone overboard with all that
"barebones" idea. Had to spend hours configuring it via about:Config,
user.css, looking for extensions that should have being there in the
first place. Sigh.

I fully agree with this post on mozillazine

"Firebird (currently 0.6.1) is defined as a "A Lean, Mean Browsing
Machine". in fact, it's so lean, it doesn't have much more featurs than
it's competitors. it offers very little control to the user over its
behaviour: you can't control the way you want to open new tabs, or what
applications will be used for different file types (aka helper
applications). you don't have accurate control over the text size
(suppose you want to double the text size. how many times will you have
to increas the text size until you get what you want?), no forms manager.
heck, it doesn't even have a sidebar, one of the two best things in
mozilla, along with tabs! (mind that tabs are also present in other
browsers, including some IE based, so it's not much of an advantage). "

As well as this

"My problem with FB is the barebonedness of it. Yes we don't want bloat
but FB is bigger than opera. So one could say it's bloated anywayss. The
bloat argument is null in both ways.

Good features are taken out and to replace them, many chrome overlays are
added and when you have so many, it slows FB down. It's one reason why FB
slows down so much after a few days use.

It's annoying to see good Mozilla features out though. Like the Mozilla
dl manager, which was incomplete anyway- should have pause, resume, etc
controls. The dl sidebar in FB is simply horrendous and I don't like
having so many progress windows open at once. It's too bad that feature
was taken out."

It also drops P3P standards for cookie handling which even the destable
IE 6.0 supports! Looking for the master password in the password manager?
You won't find it.Advanced options? dropped in Firebird 0.61 but
thankfully in 0.7 it's appears.

The only comfort I get is that Firebird 0.7 apparantly has added some of
this, but as it stands 0.61 which is the one recommended on mozilla is
not really worth the trouble IMHO.
