Moving WinXP licenses among PCs

I have several PCs, some running WinXP others Win98SE.

I have purchased a new XP Pro package -- full, not upgrade. My plan is to install it on my WinXP Home laptop, and take that WinXP home license and install it on another family PC running Win98SE. I understand I will need to validate both licenses upon install. I assume this moving of licenses is permissible.

Only "Retail Versions" of Windows XP can be transferred to another computer.
OEM or factory preinstalled versions are non-transferable to any other computer.

For Clarification:

Go to Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.
Then click on "End-User License Agreement".

You can also open XP's "Help and Support" and type: EULA
and hit enter. Click on "Questions and answers about the EULA".

Greetings --

First of all, if I correctly understand that WinXP Home came
pre-installed on the PC from the factory, you have an OEM license for
WinXP Home. An OEM version must be sold with a piece of hardware
(normally a motherboard or hard drive, if not an entire PC) and is
_permanently_ bound to the first PC on which it's installed. An OEM
license, once installed, is not legally transferable to another
computer under _any_ circumstances. You can remove or replace it, if
you like, but you cannot reuse it on a different computer.

Secondly, if you used an Upgrade version of WinXP Pro, the license
for WinXP Home has been subsumed (became an integral part of) by the
WinXP Pro Upgrade license. Basically, you have no license to use the
Upgrade without there first being an early qualifying license
permanently in place.
