moving programs from c drive to d drive

I have a split hard drive (c and d). My c drive is full
from programs only. How do I safely move some of my
programs to my d drive to free up some space on my c drive?

The safest way is to uninstall then re-install, another
choise is to get a copy of partition magic and expand your
HD. You did say it was split.
