Moving photos from one folder to another

I uploaded pictures from my camera to MY PICTURES, using ScanDisk, and gave
them a folder name. However some of the pictures should be in different
folders. In MY PICTURES, I created a new folder for each different subject
of pictures, (using the "Make a new folder" choice) then highlighted the
pictures that I wanted to move into one of the new folders. The new folder
did not appear in the list of folders in MY PICTURES. Then I lost the
pictures. They are no longer in the original folder, either. What am I
doing wrong and why does the new folder not show up in the small listing of
folders given? Even when I click on the + sign next to MY PICTURES, there is
a totally different set of folders listed. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Dear Trish,

I am unable to assist you with this problem but I write in hoping to ask
you if you can help me please?

I have photos that have many varied names all under the .jpg suffix. Can you
Please tell me is there a way (in "My Computer") where I can change ALL the
photos varied names to one single running in order set of names? I need to eb
able to do this for a DVD slide show I'd like to start up. I hope I have made
myself clear, as I am just starting the slow climb towards my learning curve
(in other words...... I am computer illiterate!).
