Moving Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007

I have done a bit of research on how to migrate Outlook 2003 e-mail on Windows XP SP2 to Outlook 2007 on Vista Premium 64-bit and I've found some conflicting information. I realize I can use tools like "Windows Easy Transfer for Windows XP" to begin the transfer process and "Windows Easy Transfer" on Vista to import e-mail among other items. However, I've heard this isn't always very reliable. And I've also read that it might just be better to backup the e-mail to a PST file and then restore that to the new machine.

In a nutshell, I would like opinions / documentation on what the most reliable method of transferring Outlook 2003 e-mail to Outlook 2007 is. Any personal experiences or documentation would be greatly appreciated!

No you cannot use Windows Easy Transfer with Outlook. You never could and
never will. It is a pure deception to suggest you could, for which Microsoft
should be deeply embarrassed.
Use the correct methods we post here daily.

Thanks all, I was able to use the tips from the articles and it worked like
a charm. I am often skeptical about tools (especially Microsoft's own
tools) that claim to make things easy for transferring configuration
settings. I played it safe and just restored the PST files and then I also
reviewed the Outlook 2007 file locations to bring additional items across.

Appreciate all the help.
