Moving NT domain onto 2000 Server

Hi,

I have an SBS 4.5 Server and a Windows 2000 Server that is
acting as a member server.

I want to decommission the SBS 4.5, as the customer has
Exchange 2000 and ISA licenses. Can you please point me in
the right direction with respects to documentation on how
to make the Windows 2000 the domain controller,
decommission the SBS 4.5 Server, all with the least amount
of disruption to the network (ie, I want to take the SIDs
across if possible).

Thanks!

Martin

going from sbs to regular 2000 is not going to be easy or pretty in regards
to Exchange. Are you over 50 users?

No - only 15 users.

I was thinking of just using exmerge for Exchange.
Definitely not the best option, but in this case probably
the cleanest.

The part I don't know is how to get the
domain 'transfered' to the Windows 2000 Server. Do I make
it a DC in the NT domain, then promote the various FSMO
roles to it, or is there a better way?

Hi Mark,

The user has not taken my advise (which was to upgrade to
SBS 2000), and have instead purchased the licenses
seperately through some government special pricing (they
are a Not For Profit organisation).

But anyway, thanks for answering my question. Any thoughts
on a good program to quickly and easily copy user profiles?

Thanks again,

Martin
