moving mail

I installed Outlook 2007 on a new vista machine. How can I transfer all my
old emails and addresses from outlook 2000 on my old XP machine?
Import/export doesn't seem to work.

Hi Jon
Can you be a bit more specific ? what happens when you try to do the import
etc ?

when I tried using Easy Transfer, the message says it can't import a MAPI
file. When I try to use the import function, it only lists Outlook Express,
Live Mail, Eudora, etc. Nothing about Outlook.

Hi Jon
If you try to export the emails etc to a PST file, save it somewhere on your
local hard drive then import the PST that should pull everything in.
Depending on the amount of info to pull in then it might be easier to export
emails to one file, contacts to another...entirely up to you...let us know if
that works :)

Hope that helps

With OL closed on the old pc, copy the *.pst file(s) to some location on the
new PC, eg Documents folder, then in OL, File>Open>Data File.........browse
to the location. Copy data from old to the new personal folders

Look at the reply by 'DL'; do *not* use Export/Import to move Outlook
data files!
